A bit of a bonus session this afternoon as was not expecting the wind to fill in like this so did my exercises in the back garden with some sunny periods for good measure! I then checked the Landguard weather station and was surprised to see 15 knots at 12.50:) Mag made a yummy salad lunch and I messaged Ian and Robert deciding to meet up at The Dip around 2.30 which was ideal with high water being at 7.37 so we had plenty of beach. I dropped Mag off at Jacobs Ladder so she could walk home as I continued onto The Dip being the first to arrive. I quickly set up my foil board but was not sure about sail size, with 15 mph gusts on my gauge I took a chance with my 6.5, Ian 5.6 and Robert 6m. I was first out and was nervous about not having enough sail but I need no have worried as it was pretty perfect to state flying straight away:) With the wind SSW, onshore the sea was quite big and lumpy but I feel really comfortable on my new Starboard gear doing some great long runs out to sea. After two sessions where I did not fall in, I managed to get wet a few times this afternoon but my sea gybing and speed are coming along well so managed to stay dry most of the time. I had no plan today so started off going for an hour by doing several long runs then started to beat down the coast ending up down near The Manor then having a nice 3-mile broad un back but the wind had eased so you had to pump up on a gust now but once up and flying it was ideal only needed a tad more wind and some sunshine to make the session 5 stars! So a nice session covering 35 miles with a PB alpha thrown in for good measure, maybe the same again tomorrow afternoon?
